I've talked to a couple of my friends about people who blog about how much they LOVE something or someone. Some times you wonder if they are trying to convince themselves that they have made a good decision or make it a point to tell others they really are happy. But then sometimes that someone is you. And you really do LOVE what ever it is. That's how I feel about Washington. I know it's not my final resting spot in life, but it's definitely a place I truly enjoy, or LOVE.
This last weeks weather:
I'm not sure I'd have to explain why I like it here. It's July and the high is only 95! The kicker - there is always a breeze so it never really feels like 95!
NOTE TO SELF:
When your husband goes out of town and your not sure if you really want to go . . . GO! Even if he's on a tight schedule and you're not sure how much exploring there is to do . . . GO!
Jake's been out of town and that leaves me at home. The house is clean. The dogs are fed. What more is there to do. I wasted two hours of my life watching the Real Housewives of New Jersey. LAME. What a waste. So I turned off the t.v. and went outside.
The Potatoes:
If you weren't sure what plant the potatoes really were, you weren't alone. So I sat and weeded the garden. I found a slug. It was pretty gross. There were some worms too but they didn't bother me. A bunch of ants too. The slug was gross.
My favorite part of Spring/Summer is the fruit. Every morning before work I would go out and pick a bowl of raspberries, boysenberries, and cherries. Delicious.
These berries are for my smoothie.
The boysenberries were pretty big. I was impressed. This was a fat one!
The birds wouldn't settle for the ones on top, they intruded the bottom layer too. So I climbed the latter to save the ones in the middle!
The strawberries became a home for a quail family.
We've now watched the babies grow into little quail. Jake would like to shoot them.
The tomatoes are out of control. Salsa here we come!
Belle is doing the clean up!
There are so many other things that's going on. The river, the parks, our running course, house sitting (and we're getting good at watering plants!), and much more! Our adventures are just starting to begin up here.
Life is good.

Oh my goodness! The cherries look fake. I have never seen fruit grow like that! Lucky girl to be able to have fresh fruit every morning. Glad you are liking Washington. Anything sounds better than this place we live in sometimes called hell!
I'm jealous of all that you have to eat in your very own backyard! And that you live in the pacific northwest. I love it up there.
Well, Hello Martha!!! Look at your green thumb. Your garden looks awesome, I am totally jealous. And there is NO shame in watching 2 hours of that show. I am right there with ya' chick. Call me!
No picture of the slug? Darn. :) I really like the picture of the quail. How close did you have to get to get the picture? I think it's hilarious that Jake wants to shoot 'em. I'm sure Dad would say the same thing, but then again, where's the sport in that when you're raising the game in your strawberry patch?
That is an awesome garden you have. I'm jealous.
The ONLY good thing about slugs is watching them foam up after you've poured salt on them.......but your garden rewards are terrific!!
Look you have time to blog too! I love you garden. Ours is just starting to produce. I love the pacific northwest too.
ok seriously rub it in! LOL Your garden looks amazing and so does all the stuff coming out of your garden. I love the little quail. Quail babies are SOO cute!
Your garden is awesome!! I think that Washington is where we want to move to! I want to try some of the salsa, just not the hot stuff. ;-) Where'd Jake go? We still miss you!
You have to do a post about any tips you have for gardening. I want to start my own garden this next year (If anything will grow in this hot hell hole) and I need all the help I can get! Your garden looks so scrumpcious (sp?)
Emily you just made me feel so good to know that you were enjoying the great outdoors!
I have to say that your dad would have been pretty proud of all that you and Jake have been doing outdoors. We both loved to play in our garden back in Indiana. Tomatos, zuchinni (for that marvelous bread everyone loved), cukes, and of course lettuce!
We had BLT sandwiches more than I care to admit! And then grilled cheese with the soup from making fresh tomato soup!
Yummmy!
Yes, Life is good! And I'm so glad that I got to live long enough to see you and Jake enjoying yourselves! I was a bit selfish and wanted to keep you both here with me in Nevada, but I'm really thankful that you had the opportunity to experience all that you have so far by living with your inlaws.
